Talent Art (XC1)
- For other articles titled "Talent Art", see Talent Art (disambiguation).
Talent Arts are unique Battle Arts in Xenoblade Chronicles and Future Connected. These Arts are special moves that are unique to the character using them. Every major party member has a Talent Art located in the centre of their Arts palette. Guest party members do not have Talent Arts.
Talent Gauge[edit]
Unlike normal Battle Arts, Talent Arts work off the Talent Gauge. For most characters, this gauge is charged through auto-attacks and filling it allows the player to use their Talent Art. However, Sharla's Talent Gauge monitors her rifle's heat, so it increases by using other Battle Arts and she can use Cool Off at any time. Also, Melia's Talent Gauge is built up by uses of Elemental Discharge, which can be used whenever her elementals are active.
Ways of filling the Talent Gauge[edit]
Any character[edit]
- The gem Talent Boost fills the Talent Gauge by an additional 1-12% per auto-attack at the cost of half auto-attack damage.
- When most characters are warned of a vision, their Talent Gauge will max out. Sharla's, however, will empty so she doesn't have to cool off.
Shulk[edit]
- Shulk's auto-attack boosts the gauge by 20% per hit.
- These Arts boost Talent Gauge:
- These skills boost Talent Gauge:
- Activate Monado can be used to toggle between Shulk's standard Arts and the Monado Arts without depleting the Talent Gauge.
- Each Monado Art expends a varying amount of the Talent Gauge when used, ranging from 50% to 100%:
| Monado Art | Talent Gauge used |
|---|---|
| Monado Enchant | 50% |
| Monado Buster | 100% |
| Monado Shield | 50% |
| Monado Speed | 75% |
| Monado Purge | 75% |
| Monado Eater | 75% |
| Monado Armour | 100% |
| Monado Cyclone | 100% |
Reyn[edit]
- Reyn's auto-attack boosts the gauge by 25% per hit.
- These arts boost Talent Gauge:
- Additionally, Magnum Charge acts like an alternative Talent Art as it can only be used when the Talent Gauge is filled. However it has a separate cooldown.
- These skills boost Talent Gauge:
Fiora[edit]
- Fiora's auto-attack boosts the gauge by 10% per hit, but her auto-attack hits twice.
- These skills boost Talent Gauge:
Sharla[edit]
- Each of Sharla's Arts fills the Talent Gauge by a certain amount depending on the Art. As the gauge fills, the amount of damage dealt by Sharla's Arts increases, while the HP recovery of her healing arts decreases. When the gauge is full, she will automatically be forced to use Cool Off. When used, the gauge drains by 35% per second if used normally, or 15% per second if used when overheated.
- Sharla typically does not want her Talent Art to fill up, since Cool Off takes longer when fully charged. Instead, the gem Heat Sink is used to slow the Talent Gauge fill rate.
- If Sharla's Talent Gauge is maxed during a Chain Attack, it will reset to 99% after her turn.
Dunban[edit]
- Dunban's auto-attack boosts the gauge by 5% per hit.
- These Arts boost Talent Gauge:
Melia[edit]
- Melia's Elemental Discharge boosts the gauge by 10% per use (15% if she previously discharged a different elemental in the last 5 seconds). When the gauge is filled, Melia will gain an aura called Element Burst, increasing the damage of her Elemental Discharge and enabling the use of certain Arts.
- While Element Burst is active, Elemental Discharges have a chance to reset the Talent Gauge to 0. The chance that it won't reset is based on her current tension level, as shown in the following table:
| Tension | Chance of burst aura continuing |
|---|---|
| Very high | 90% |
| High | 75% |
| Normal | 60% |
| Low | 50% |
| Very low | 0% |
- If Melia's aura is deactivated by other means, such as through Daze, Incapacitation, or the battle concluding, her gauge is set to 90%.
Riki[edit]
- Riki's auto-attack boosts the gauge by 10% per hit.
Seven[edit]
- Seven's auto-attack boosts the gauge by 4% per hit. However, two of her auto-attacks hit twice and one of her auto-attacks only hits once.
- Her Talent Art can be changed by modifying the foot (drone) armour.

- These skills boost Talent Gauge:
Kino[edit]
- Each of Kino's Arts fills the Talent Gauge by a certain amount depending on the Art. As the gauge fills, the amount of damage dealt by Kino's Arts increases, while the HP recovery of his healing arts decreases. When the gauge is full, he will automatically be forced to use Cool Off. When used, the gauge drains by 35% per second if used normally, or 15% per second if used when overheated.
- Kino typically does not want his Talent Art to fill up, since Doze Off takes longer when fully charged. Instead, the gem Heat Sink is used to slow the Talent Gauge fill rate.
Nene[edit]
- Nene's auto-attack boosts the gauge by 25% per hit.
- These Arts boost Talent Gauge:
- Magnum Starch acts like an alternative Talent Art as it can only be used when the Talent Gauge is filled. However it has a separate cooldown.
Additional mechanics[edit]
- During a Chain Attack, Talent Arts will increase the multiplier and change the chain multiplier's colour to white. This is a wildcard colour: any Art type used at this point will increase the multiplier.
Enemy Talent Arts[edit]
Enemies may have their own version of Talent Arts, which operate similarly to the party members' Talent Arts in that their Talent Gauge must generally be filled to a certain amount before they can be used. Certain enemies have more than one Talent Art, and other types of enemy Arts may also require a certain amount of Talent Gauge charge in order to use. Each enemy Talent Art has a level from I to X, with higher levels typically being more powerful. When Shulk uses Monado Shield and the Art's level is greater than or equal to the enemy's Talent Art, the enemy's damage is reduced to 1 and all debuffs are prevented.
