Chapter 3

Research Methodology

Presented in this chapter is the methodology of the study which consists

of the research design, locale of the study, respondents, instrumentation, data

gathering procedures and statistical treatment of the data.

Research Design

This study used the descripted type of research to determine the

effectiveness of delivery of the public service of the Barangay Officials in

Contabato city perceive by its constituents, in conducting this study, survey

questionnaire is the main instruments in gathering data of the study.

The researcher prepared a sample survey questionnaire from the

theoretical framework of the study and presented it to research adviser for

comments and suggestions that would make the questionnaire acceptable to

the respondents. Prior finalization of the questionnaire, a letter seeking

approval of the Barangay Officials of the Cotabato city and have the residence

serve as a respondent of the study.

Locale of the study

This study is conducted in 5 Barangays of Cotabato city, like Poblacion

6, Poblacion 5, Bagua II, Mother Barangay Bagua, and Kalangenan II.


Respondents

The respondents of this study will be 30 residences of Cotabato city, each

Barangay says in locale of the study will be represent 6 residences that belong

to the responsibility of the Barangay Officials in terms of Delivery of public

services in the Barangays of Cotabato city.

Sampling Technique

Random sampling was used in determining the sample respondents of

the study. Furthermore, total complete enumeration will be used as sampling

technique for the Barangay Officials. Stratified sampling technique wiil be used

to determine the residence of the Barangay respondents.

Research Instruments

A self-made questionnaire will be use in this study to elicit the

information

From the respondents. The instruments will be composed by two parts. Part 1

residence of the Barangays in Cotabato city. Further, Part 2 will elicit the

effectiveness of delivery of public service of the Barangay Officials in Cotabato

city perceive by its constituents.


Data Gathering

A 30 pieces of survey questionnaire will be distributed to the respondents

that willing to answer the questionnaire about effectiveness of delivery of

service of the Barangay officials in Cotabato city perceive by its constituents.

The respondents will be given a time to answer the questionnaire and it will be

retrieved personally by the researcher. A random interview will be done to

validate the perceptions of the respondents and also observation was conduct.

Statistical Tool for Analysis

Frequency percentage and Mean will be used in describing the

responsibility of the Barangay Officials and their constituents in terms of

delivery of public service.

Person Product Moment will be used in in describing the effectiveness of

delivery of public service of the Barangay Officials in Cotabato city perceive by

its constituents.

The cut-off points in describing the Effectiveness of delivery of public

service of the Barangay Officials in Cotabato city perceive by its constituents

will be the following:

Highly Evident- 4 [when the condition described at all times]


Evident- 3 [when the condition described is most of the times under taken]

Poor Evident- 2 [when the condition described is rarely undertaken]

Not at all- 1 [when the condition described is never undertaken].
